It includes a few listings of African American patrons, including "Philip Wells loaf of sugar per your Negro" on 27 September 1797; Cyrus Negro 21 December 1797 credited for one day of chopping wood and charged for one pair of mittens; Cyrus Negro on 25 December, 1797 credited for chopping wood; and Cyrus Negro charged on 30 December 1797...

Scope and Contents In early December 1803, Boardman shipped barrels of pork and beef to Bridgeport and had goods carted back including sugar, paint, spices, corks, frying pans, whips, shovels, turpentine, brass kettles, hardware, steel, indigo, tobacco, and coffee. An entry from February 4, 1804 for storing shingles notes it may be paid in cash or iron. There is one mention of an African American customer. An entry of 13 February 1804 to Abel Hinn says, "To your order pd Abel Negro 8/10 paid him in humhum."...
